In this session we will work on logical reasoning with Chupa chups or from sweet materials to work on logic with children both as children.

To make these logical CHUPA CHUPS I have needed the following materials:

• Canitas.
• White or coloured paper (to print the drawings or to draw and paint them by hand).
• Glue.
• Scissors.
• Plasticizing and laminating machine covers.

Preparation of the material

To make this material I have chosen 3 qualities: colour, pattern and size. Each of these variables is specified in a series of attributes:

• Colour: red, blue and yellow.
• Size: big and small.
• Pattern: hearts, stars and balloons.

You must create 3 colour, 3 print and 2 size Chupa Chups, which makes a total of 18 pieces, and their corresponding labels (16 labels: 8 affirmative and 8 negative).

The steps to manufacture this material are simple:

1. To begin with, you must draw or choose a drawing of a lollipop, to have it as a template (APPENDIX 1 of the downloadable at the end of the article).

2. Then decorate the Chupa Chups with the three chosen patterns: stars, hearts and balloons.

3. Then colour the lollipops: red, blue and yellow

4. Reduce the size of the decorated and coloured Chupa Chups with the computer or photocopier 

5. Printing, cutting out and laminating the Chupa Chups.

 

6. Finally... Let's play!

Once we have the material, we will work on the logic-mathematics and put the jars in the groups, which will be made up of four or five students. The teacher will tell each group a number, a size and a colour and then each group will have to solve it together. When they think they have the solution, one of the group will raise his/her hand and the teacher will go to see if it is correct.
